ADT HK Receives Gold Award for Lowest False Alarms Rate
Recognition for Role in Reducing Unnecessary Police Resource Deployment
ADT, a leader in monitored security and a Johnson Controls brand, was recognized by the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Prevention Bureau for achieving the lowest false alarms rate in 2017. The company received the Gold award at the Prevention of False Alarms Awards presentation ceremony held on April 19, 2018.
In 1989, the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Prevention Bureau implemented a four-phased response system (PRS) for intruder alarm systems to combat the 47,423 false alarms it received that year and to improve the operational efficiencies of security companies providing such services. Since then, the number of false alarms has reduced steadily over the years, enabling the Force to save thousands of man-hours in deploying frontline officers to deal with them. It is due to close collaboration with the private security industry that the Force is able to bring the false alarm rate down, thanks to continuous improvement in the security companies’ technologies as well as the level of their service and commitment.
In recognition of the achievement by the security industry, the Hong Kong Police Force honored nine security services companies which obtained the lowest false alarm rates in 2017 with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. ADT was one of three companies to receive the Gold award in the category of CMS (central monitoring station) with more than 2,000 subscribers.

In addition, before an ADT product becomes part of a customer’s security system, it is stress-tested by our engineers under some of the most difficult conditions like radio frequency test rooms and extreme temperature chambers to ensure it will perform reliably in real-life scenarios where health and safety may be at stake. ADT also takes especial care to educate customers on how to prevent false alarms.
